Sumalatha, the glamorous and talented Tamil actress was born on August 27th, 1963 in Chennai in Tamil Nadu. She had been a prominent figure in the eighties in the Malayalam movie world. She was very much lucky enough to be enacted in very good roles Malayalam Movies like “ New Delhi” ,”Nirakootee”, both co-starred with Megastar Mammooty and under the excellent direction of Joshi. The other popular movies of her are “Thoovanathumpikal”( Dancing Butterflies), by Late Padmarajan, “Thaazhvaram “(The Valley), by Late Bharathan , “Isabella” by Balachandra Menon “Ee Thanutha Veluppan Kalathu “ (On this cold dawn), all of which are revered as the best of the times by a generation of Malayalam film viewers. She was one of the most popular actresses from the mid eighties to the nineties. She suddenly disappeared from films after she got married to politician turned Kannada superstar Ambareesh during year 1991. She debuted in films at her young age of 15 after winning a beauty contest in Andhra Pradesh. She had acted in almost all types of roles from character to high action movies in Malayalam language.With a stunning capability to handle six different languages, Sumalatha literally ruled Southern films of her generation. Sumalatha who was leading a quiet life as the wife of politician turned Kannada super star Ambareesh, will give life to a character named Thankom George, in the new Prithviraj movie titled as “ Calendar”.
